Serving the Community
Members of Oasis Madrid are encouraged to demonstrate the love of Christ in practical ways through service in their local community.
If you would like more information about service projects that are available or have any suggestions for new things we can do please contact Warren Batt at warren_batt@hotmail.com or Karen Batt at karenbatt@hotmail.com
Here are some examples of the ways we are serving the community:
Homeless “sandwich route”
Since it started, Oasis Madrid has had a “sandwich route” and we’ve been building relationships with some of Madrid’s homeless people, serving them in practical ways. Every week we make sandwiches and go out to spend time with these men and women, getting to know them, listening to them, learning how we can support them.
You can help out with the sandwich route by either participating on Saturdays, praying or providing other items (eg clothes, toiletries etc)
Peter and friends:
A group of International women have opened up an “English Speaking Corner” at the Reina Victoria Old Folks Home at Metro Guzman El Bueno to provide services and support to people who don’t speak Spanish.
They are loking for volunteers to spend time with the English speaking residents, like Peter.
